Afterwards, people from the area would come and mourn for Munetoshi and bid him well in the afterlife, but the Gendaiyu gravestone did a mysterious thing. The gravestone would always lean towards the Banryu valley. No matter how many times people corrected it, it always seemed to lean towards the valley. Even now, the gravestone can be seen leaning towards the gorge, as if it was fixing its invisible eyes down the valley ravine. Beautiful Ayame iris were known to bloom in that region, so the area around the grave became a mound of iris they called the Ayame mound. ![]() |
